There are many governmental jobs that are advertised almost every day through every medium, ranging from newspapers, to television and radio and even the Internet. This is because there are millions of government jobs that are available every time in the nation. However, there is one major problem that often comes to notice whilst relating to government job descriptions. This is that most government job descriptions are vague and not to the point. Besides this, they sometimes advertise for requirements that far exceed the actual needs of the job.

The reason for bulking up the qualification in job advertising is simple: while the government wants to fill a managerial level position, they would advertise for it and seek the qualifications of a executive level position, hoping someone overqualified will apply and accept the job. It is hence very important to work through the clutter when talking about government job descriptions.

One can do that by first of all knowing the true strengths that one possesses. It is easy to decide from there what field you would like to go into. Then one can decide whether one would like to go in for private sector jobs or rather opt for government jobs in that field.

If one chooses to get a government job, one can search the newspapers and the various Web sites for the particular job. Often when you are not expecting it, suddenly a government job description pops that matches what you were seeking. Hence, it is very important to be an alert opportunist.

Once one finds a government job description, matching what one was looking for, the next step is to understand the job profile, which most of the time can be extremely confusing. This is in fact, one of the major complaints that the government gets. However, there is nothing one can do about it and one needs to simply read the ad thoroughly to understand the requirements. One can also call up the government office to learn more about the job profile and similar details.

Government jobs can be great, though, as they provide long-term security and ensure regular income for its employees.

Online advertising for jobs has now overtaken, in terms of expenditure, job advertising offline. But are candidates responding appropriately to an online job advert?

Here are 6 tips to ensure you have the best chance of successfully applying for a job on line

Don’t read the job title only. Project Manager/Accountant/Lawyer/IT Consultant – one of these titles may apply to you but the body of the job may not. Read the job details carefully and only apply for those roles you feel you qualify for – or at least might qualify for.

Don’t attach a CV with spelling mistakes or grammatical errors. Our own conversations with recruitment departments have demonstrated that if they see your CV and you haven’t been able to phrase your own experience with correct grammar or there are spelling mistakes contained within your CV it leaves them with limited confidence that you can operate at the level they need. This is especially true if a part of your role is writing reports of some description. This point may seem obvious but it is more then just a spell check. Have you used the word “incite” instead of “insight” or other similar sounding words. Take the time to get it write….(right!)

Don’t apply to the same recruiter for a variety of different jobs requiring diverse skills. Are you really an expert in Supply Chain, Transaction Services and Merger Integration? What are the requirements of the roles you are applying for? If they clearly state you need to be a proven expert in a given area – show your focus and apply for the role that you can realistically perform well in. As a recruiter, receiving several applications from the same candidate, for several distinctly different roles (that required a specific expertise) immediately leaves an impression that you are not focused in any area.

Don’t ignore the recruiter. Even if you have a great CV and you are applying for the right role, add a courteous cover letter referring to your application. Ideally refer to a key element of the job requirements and how your skills and experience relate.

Don’t ignore the requirements. Expanding on the previous point, if you read and liked the role, you read the requirements too but were short on one or two aspects – the cover letter is a good opportunity to highlight why your application is still relevant. If you ignore the requirements and the recruiter has lots of applications the chances are s/he will not consider that you may have compensating skills and experience.

Don’t forget where you applied. It’s easy to do; keep a track of what jobs you applied for and when. If the recruiter calls you and you have no clue about the job and when or how you applied -it doesn’t leave the best first impression.

Most of the above is common sense, certainly for the seasoned professional. However if I had £5 for every job application I have read – applying for relatively senior consulting roles or similar – that didn’t apply the basics as described above I would own a small private island right next to Richard Branson’s!” Take a few extra minutes when applying online and ensure you give yourself the best chance of getting the job you want.

You are now 13 years old and this is your first year being a teenager and it feels great because you are now being given a lot more freedom by your parents and permission to go to places like the mall by yourself or with your friends without parental supervision, but with greater freedom also comes greater responsibility and you would also like to prove that you are on your way to becoming a responsible adult and one of those ways is to prove that you can make money on your own.

The only problem here is that most companies and workplaces do not hire 13-year-olds. The reasons could be legal or they don’t have any jobs which a 13-year-old can do. Do not worry too much as I will show you a few ways that you can work around this problem and find some good ways to make consistent money .

If you are looking for a job that will always be there and you can make consistent money and I would suggest getting a paper route job. The best part of a paper route is that you only work a few hours a day and get paid pretty well for it and when you are done working you are still able to have a good breakfast and have enough time to get to school. Don’t worry about resting because you can do that after the school day is done.

The only negative here about working in a newspaper route is that you have to get up at around five o’clock in the morning each day. Most young teenagers do not like the idea of doing this for many reasons but, but if you are willing to give up your early morning hours you will be making some pretty good money here.

The pay here is excellent for a 13-year-old as you will probably be making between $500 and $700 a month and if you can somehow convince one of your parents to drive you on your route you can cover many more houses and can probably make at least $1000 or more a month. Most 13-year-olds will never even see that kind of monthly pay but you can make that possible by applying for this job.

If you are looking for more flexible hours as a young teenager and I would suggest some odd job such as opening a lemonade stand. Making lemonade is very easy and it is almost all profit as you will only have to pay for sugar and the lemons. If you have a lemon tree in your house as I do then you are basically only paying only for sugar and your time. A glass of lemonade would cost only a few pennies to you and you can charge up to a dollar per glass.

Another good job for you would be babysitting. If you are responsible 13-year-old then you can make some pretty good money by being the local neighborhood babysitter who will come over and watch over your neighbor’s kids while they are out at work or having a night out on the town. The best part of this job other than the pay (which is around $7 to $13 depending on the neighborhood in which you live) is that you can usually watch TV with the kids while they are awake or asleep. It’s a very laid back job and the only thing you need to focus on doing is making sure that you are within eyesight range of the kids that you are taking care of. It is a great part-time job which is flexible enough to also allow you the time off to hang out with your friends or do schoolwork.

Now be sure before applying for any job that you and your parents can check your state’s job law requires. Some states here might actually need you to have a job permit so do your homework before deciding to venture out and apply for a job.

The world of jobs has changed a lot since the past few years. Jobs that were not existent a few years ago are today considered to be a hot job. Here are some other jobs that are thought to be good jobs:

Sales

While sales was not considered to be a hot job a few years ago, the amount of scope one has in the world of sales with the right academics has made it a hot job today.

Along with the financial aspect, the world of sales is vibrant and rewarding to the rightfully deserving. With the right type of attitude, you would be networking like never before with the people you know professionally and have a happy, social life.

Also, with degrees like MBA and BBA that cater to the world of marketing and sales, every sales guy can become a entrepreneur as soon as time permits. Therefore, Sales is considered to be a hot job.

Advertising

The connection between a rock star and a copywriter or a writer is that everyone in the world thinks that they can be a rock star, but there are very few that can actually be.

Being a copywriter or a content writer is considered to be a hot job today, because a copywriter is deeply connected with the media world, like movies, television serials, video games and almost any product that needs to be advertised.

Although the work hours are hectic and life quite difficult for the newbie, the world of advertising has been considered to be a better option than other jobs.

Hosting

With the changing times, how a person carries out their leisure activities have also changed. Today, any big party of event will have a number of hosts and hostesses who will basically look in the comfort of the guests and ensure that the event goes on without any hassles.

Disc Jockey

A disc jockey is another interesting job. A DJ basically is the heart of any music party. Their work is to provide foot-tapping music for the party and make the people dance to their music. If you are into parties and would like to make some good friends, the position of a DJ is perfect for you.

As a host, you would have a lot of friends and colleagues in your network, and having a good party would be just a matter of a few phone calls. You would also have the most exciting nightlife, because you would already be famous on the party circuit, with your job causing you to be present at some of the biggest dos in your area. Because of these aspects, hosting is considered to be a hot job.

These are just some of the jobs that are supposed to be hot in today’s world. Of course, you would keep in mind that almost every job has its advantages and disadvantages, and it would not be right to compare these hot jobs with other jobs that require a proper degree and a proper streamlined and progressive education.

There are very few people who would turn down a job in the Caribbean, but if you are one of the few that is actively seeking open Caribbean jobs, then there are several ways that you can search for available positions that match your career skills.

The first way to search for a job in the Caribbean is to scout out local companies and send them your resume and information, regardless of whether or not they have any open positions. This method may be more helpful for those already living in the Caribbean, but with some extra time and effort it can work for those who are overseas and looking for Caribbean jobs so that they may relocate to a nicer climate.

Another way that you can search for Caribbean jobs is through a headhunter or a recruiting agency. There are multiple sources of national and international recruiting companies that will hold your resume until they have a position from one of their clients become available. They will also try to match your resume and qualification with an employment opportunity that they already have available.

A recruiting is one of the best choices that you can make when searching for a Caribbean job. Not only are you able to promote your resume and push yourself as a positive choice for the position, but so can the recruiter. Your recruiter will act as a second set of eyes and ears about anything happening with the position in which you interview, as well as help you continue your search with other companies and other available postings.

The last method for searching for a job in the Caribbean, however, will give you the most freedom and availability to access the information on your own. This method includes using the internet as your main source for finding Caribbean jobs.

Through the internet, you can search job boards, visit company websites for job opening, and conduct the above two search methods as well. In today’s job hunt, the internet has become a valuable resource for finding out more information about a company and for searching for recruiters. Many sites related to Caribbean jobs allow you to electronically upload your resume to their website.

If you are determined to live in the Caribbean, jobs are available. Usually, though, they will not seek you out, so if you want to move, you have to do the looking. Whether on your own, with the aid of a headhunter or recruiting agency, or through the internet, you will find your perfect job in the Caribbean.

Reducing and managing stress is one of the keys to a successful search. Too much stress and you appear desperate. Not enough and people question your motivation. Only you can decide how much stress is the right amount! Here are seven steps you can take to significantly lower stress, improve your effectiveness, and ultimately shorten your job hunt.

1. Have a realistic understanding of how long a job search takes. As a general rule of thumb figure it will take anywhere from a week (on the high side) for every $1000 of income to a month (on the low side) for every $10,000 of income. Many job seekers have an unrealistic time frame for finding their next job. It always takes longer than you think. When you don’t have a realistic expectation for how long it can take it is easy to feel stressed out.

2. Develop a job search action plan. Map out where you want to go and how you are going to get there. Set specific daily and weekly goals; then develop a contingency plan for when Plan A doesn’t work. Once your plan is in place and you are emotionally prepared – take action!

3. Reduce unnecessary expenses immediately. Minimizing financial responsibilities and maximizing financial resources will significantly reduce stress. This is not the time to take your dream vacation. The greater your financial resources the more flexibility you have to accept the right job offer rather than grabbing the first one that comes along.

4. Think of your job search as a job. Devote as much time to it as you would to a job. Consider all of the extra hours you spent working in a job you did not particularly like. Isn’t it worth spending twenty-five to forty hours a week looking for work you will enjoy?

5. Spend time on the right activities. Do spend time developing high quality marketing materials – like a r?sum?, fact sheet, and reference list; networking with friends and colleagues who can connect you to the right people or opportunities; and following up with potential employers. Don’t spend hours on the internet searching job boards for the ‘right’ job. Instead use the internet to research organizations, gain information about specific industries, and network with people who can assist with your search.

6. Evaluate your progress on a weekly basis. Stay on top of your search so that you can tell immediately if your search starts to stall and take steps to get it back on track. Assess what is working – do more of it. Determine what isn’t working and revise your approach. If you are still stuck consider working with a career coach.

7. Take time to refresh your mind, body, and soul. Looking for a job, especially when you don’t have one, is something you carry around 24/7. Remind yourself to set regular office hours and knock off at a reasonable hour. That includes taking time off on the weekends. Take a walk, go to the gym, escape with a good book, or have coffee with a friend.

Most of us are resigned to living life in the fast lane and have accepted our monotonous and robotic routines as normal. There is hardly any time to sit down and plan or organize important issues relating to our general well being or our careers. While the home front may be balanced on account of contributions by other family members, our vocational choices and career path may suffer due to a lack of organization.

Proper Planning

There are a number of ways in which your job search could be organized. Proper planning helps to save on time, energy and precious funds. The following steps should be taken:

-	Attempt a career quiz

-	Subscribe to newsletters with extensive career classifieds

-	Be alert and identify career and internship opportunities

-	Identify institutions that could enhance your prospects to meet career goals

-	Find out about distance learning opportunities

There are also a number of books available to help with organizing your job search. There are four simple rules that make organizing your job search easier. You should manage your time effectively and conscientiously. All relevant information should be written down systematically and methodically, so that it is easily accessible when needed. You should organize your workspace and get rid of any clutter. Last but not least, you should implement a plan of action that works well for you.

You should space your attempts to identify a job in a way that does not affect your enthusiasm. Schedule your job search activities two hours a day, six days a week. It is essential to take a break to recuperate and recharge, mentally and physically.

Organizing Yourself

You need to update yourself regularly on the kind of competition you are facing in your chosen career. You must constantly analyze your chances, on the basis of your skills and experience and make constant efforts to establish new contacts and widen your network.

Attempting to organize your job search involves keeping track of all information and communications. You should categorize all the information gathered from the very beginning. This enables you to access important details on people and companies, as and when required. It helps to list prospective employers according to the following:

-	The size of the organization.

-	Its geographical location.

-	Potential for your growth within the organization.

You Should Design Your Own Portfolio, Complete With:

-	Several copies of your resume.

-	Copies of references and letters of recommendation.

-	Samples of your experience, like essays, research and published articles.

One of the biggest challenges faced while organizing your job search is to keep to scheduled appointments. All appointments should be logged, to prepare for interviews, and you should make timely follow-up phone calls.

The task of organizing your job search should be conducted professionally, with a methodical approach. You should set your priorities right from the beginning and work towards assessing all the available job opportunities. This will ensure that you narrow down the best offers and finally accept one that provides a good opportunity for you to grow personally and professionally.
